Indian firm Luthra and Luthra Law Office has announced the appointment of Ashwin Sapra as a group head of the firm’s Intellectual Property and Pharmaceutical practice. Formerly employed by a specialty pharmaceutical company in Washington DC, Sapra’s joining significantly strengthens the firm’s IP and patents advisory capability. Following the completion of his Masters in Law from Duke University in North Carolina, Sapra gained expertise in patent prosecution and litigation, and has experience dealing with USA FDA regulations, guidelines from the US Office of the Inspector General, US Anti-Kickback and licensure regulation, and the PhRMA Code on Interactions with Healthcare Professionals.

ATMD Bird & Bird has appointed Boey Swee Siang as partner to the firm’s dispute resolution practice group in Singapore. With more than 13 years’ practical experience in dispute resolution, Boey brings a wealth of knowledge to the firm from across a wide area of corporate and commercial litigation. His experience ranges from cross-border insolvency to defamation and medical negligence, and he has represented well-known publishers, international banks, and listed companies. Boey was also involved in the largest representative action in Singapore’s legal history. He joins the firm from Rajah & Tann.

Singapore firm Colin Ng & Partners LLP has welcomed Lee Kuen Yip and Sam Kok Yin as two new partners to its Real Estate & Conveyancing and Corporate & Commercial practice groups respectively.
• Lee joins the firm with vast experience in real estate work, having previously acted for developers, private companies and individuals in the sale and purchase of properties, leases, tenders, joint ventures involving real estate and enbloc transactions. Lee has also acted for public listed companies, multinationals, private companies and banks in respect of corporate and finance-related work including project financing, loan syndication, corporate compliance and regulatory matters.
• Sam brings to the firm experience in M&A, restructuring of insolvent companies, public listings, sale of shares and rights issues, coupled with an in-depth knowledge of the China market. Having previously held the role of director and head of the China desk at Yeo Wee Kiong Law Corporation. Sam was also an associate earlier in his career with the corporate and capital markets department at Rajah & Tann.
