The powerhouse trio, who join from Baker McKenzie, bring a wealth of experience and industry insight, further strengthening Dentons’ position as the go-to firm for IP and Technology matters, helping clients across the Asia-Pacific region and globally. Widely recognized in the region and globally for his extensive experience in IP law, particularly in Hong Kong and Mainland China, Loke-Khoon Tan focuses on the structuring and protection of IP rights, including trademarks, design patents, copyright, trade names and software, as well as anti-counterfeiting strategies. His work increasingly spans emerging areas, such as internet and social media, media and entertainment, artificial intelligence and technology law. He is an award-winning IP lawyer, and led the regional IP & Technology practice and Consumer Goods & Retail Industry practice of his prior firm for two decades. Dominic Edmondson advises primarily on complex global data privacy and data protection, artificial intelligence, information technology transactions, cybersecurity, e-commerce and telecommunications matters. He also has broad experience in both contentious and non-contentious IP matters in Greater China and across Asia in various industry sectors, including technology, media and telecommunications, automotive, financial services and healthcare. Edmondson is admitted to practice in both Hong Kong and England & Wales. Maria Joannides Smith is widely recognized in the region and globally as a leading lawyer in her field. She advises on contentious, non-contentious and commercial IP matters, with a particular focus on trademarks and copyright. Her practice encompasses global and regional IP portfolio management, brand protection and enforcement. Smith has extensive experience developing comprehensive regional and global protection and enforcement strategies, structuring of IP rights, and guiding clients through regional brand selection and clearance processes prior to product launches or market entry.
