
Trilegal has added Nishith Mehta to lead its Risk and Compliance Practice, underscoring the firm’s commitment to delivering integrated legal and regulatory risk solutions in an increasingly complex governance landscape. Mehta brings over 25 years of compliance and regulatory leadership in banking and capital markets, with a proven track record of advising on complex, multi-jurisdictional matters across the Asia Pacific. His career spans broker-dealer operations, investment banking, credit and structured products, wealth management, non-banking finance, and fixed income and currency trading, giving him a uniquely holistic perspective across the financial services value chain. He has held senior roles with Lehman Brothers, Kotak Mahindra Goldman Sachs’ investment banking, and Edelweiss Capital, where he advised businesses on comprehensive regulatory risk management and governance frameworks. Mehta joins after more than 15 years at the Bank of America, where he was most recently Co-Head of Compliance for the entire Asia Pacific region, and the Chief Compliance Officer for India, overseeing compliance coverage across more than 12 jurisdictions, and leading global teams through regulatory inspections, high-stakes enforcement actions, remediation programmes, and risk transformation initiatives. In this capacity, he has worked closely with regulators, including the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), and the Federal Reserve Board (FRB), helping institutions navigate evolving regulatory expectations, while safeguarding strategic business priorities. Widely regarded as a trusted advisor, Mehta combines global best practices with deep regional insight to build resilient compliance and risk frameworks that enable organisations to maintain regulatory confidence, manage complex risks, and pursue growth with integrity.
