The judging process is underway for this year’s In-House Community Counsels of the Year and In-House Teams of the Year. The award ceremony will take place on May 11, 2017 at the Hong Kong Jockey Club Happy Valley Clubhouse in Hong Kong.
“The quality of submissions we received this year is unprecedented,” says Patrick Dransfield, co-director of In-House Community. “Counsels and in-house teams from around the region and across industry sectors are represented. Our judges will be looking for: dedication, innovation, efficiency and value, integration, improvement and CSR and diversity.”

Judges and Due Diligence
Winning in-house counsel will be chosen by our expert panel from a short-list based entirely on those nominated through the largest and most definitive survey of in-house counsel in the region.
In addition to the In-House Community directors, the judges are:
- Evangelos Apostolou, a seasoned legal professional, Evangelos was general counsel, Asia Pacific, and partner, Ernst & Young, and general counsel, Asia Pacific, British Telecom. Evangelos is currently president for EMEA at SirionLabs.
- David Miles, former partner, executive committee member and Asia chairman for Latham & Watkins. Currently chairman of Asia Community Venture.
- Kirsty Dougan, head of Asia for Axiom, one of the world’s leading providers of legal advisory services. Previously Kirsty served as senior regional counsel to Diageo, where she started and built Diageo’s legal function for Greater China.
- Ginny Wilmerding, partner with Brunswick, has spent more than a decade in Greater China. She has advised Alibaba, Chow Tai Fook, Citic, Swire, PCCW, DFS and Bain Capital on fundraising, transactions and strategic communications, and previously worked at Hutchison Whampoa and AT&T.
