At last week’s 5th annual Global Arbitration Review (GAR) awards ceremony, the HKIAC was the proud recipient of the ‘innovation by an individual or organisation in 2014’ award, as well as being a nominee for best speech of the year.

The award, designed for recognition of developing innovative arbitration practices, was given thanks to the HKIAC’s inclusion of a choice of law provision in its model clauses and the introduction of a tribunal secretary service allowing an arbitral tribunal to appoint a member of the HKIAC Secretariat as its secretary.

The HKIAC, which just celebrated its 30th anniversary, stated that it is thrilled to represent the Asia-Pacific region as winner of this award, as well as being the Asian jurisdiction with the most nominations at this year’s GAR awards.
