Allen & Overy has expanded its Greater China debt capital markets practice with the appointment of Liang (Alex) Tao, a Mandarin-speaking US partner, in its Hong Kong office. Tao joins from Davis Polk & Wardwell where he has attained a broad range of experience across debt and equity transactions (including high yield bond offerings) and developed a track record of working on some of the most complex and challenging deals out of China. He graduated from Fudan University School of Law in Shanghai, China (LLB) and University of Chicago Law School (LLM). He is admitted to practise in the State of New York and Hong Kong and is also qualified in the PRC.
Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas has added Sidhartha Barua as disputes practice partner at its New Delhi office. Prior to joining the firm, he was a partner at AZB Partners New Delhi. Along with Barua, seven of his colleagues from AZB Partners have also joined the New Delhi offices of the firm’s disputes practice. He specializes in dispute resolution, anti-trust and corporate advisory, having regularly advised top companies in their business endeavors and representing them in their various business disputes. Barua also represents clients before arbitral tribunals constituted by SIAC at Singapore and in different courts and tribunals, like the Competition Appellate Tribunal and Company Law Board, including in proceedings before various investigative agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate and Serious Fraud Investigation Office. Barua has also been appointed Additional Advocate General, State of Meghalaya in December 2015 and regularly appears for the State and at the Supreme Court and in matters involving chief ministers of various states. He has obtained his Master of Laws from the University of Warwick in 2004 and he holds a BA LLB (Hons) degree from the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, 2002. Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas has added G V Anand Bhushan as a partner to head the firm’s new Chennai office effective 1 July 2016. After his graduation from Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College in Chennai, Bhushan completed his LLM in Global and US Legal Studies at the Case Western Reserve University, School of Law, Cleveland. He was a Fulbright Scholar and was awarded for his exceptional contribution to the Case Law School’s international law program. After managing his own firm of Bhushan & Rajaram for four years, Bhushan joined Cognizant Technology Solutions as general counsel responsible for legal, compliance, Government affairs and as a member of the board of Cognizant APAC. He was honoured as the General Counsel of the Year 2014, as an innovation champion for introducing innovative leadership and processes by Cognizant, as also further awarded for his outstanding contribution for the growth and development of Cognizant Technology Solutions. He was responsible for managing 70 lawyers over multiple verticals in APAC and North America. |
