Clasis Law have appointed shipping expert Harsh Pratap as a partner in the firm’s Mumbai office. He regularly advises Indian and international clients on a wide range of shipping matters, including commercial litigation and arbitration. Pratap’s client base includes P&I Clubs, ship owners, charterers, cargo claimants and bunker suppliers. He joins the firm after 11 years at PSP Law Office in Mumbai where he was a senior associate.

Minter Ellison have appointed Adam Handley, Richard Guit and Xiaofei (Sophie) Chen as partners. Handley and Guit will be based in the firm’s Perth office while Chen will be based in Sydney. Handley has significant experience in the China market working with Chinese SOEs and private companies. He specialises in energy and resources, infrastructure, M&As and capital markets. At Corrs Chambers Westgarth where he was a partner, he co-chaired the firm’s China Business Group. Guit, also formerly a partner of Corrs Chambers Westgarth, specialises in project development and infrastructure, project finance and energy. Chen is an energy and resources and M&A specialist. Born in China, and educated in China and in Australia, she works predominantly with Chinese private companies and SOEs on foreign investment and provides head office advisory services to a number of relationship clients. She joins from Freehills, where she was special counsel.

Morrison & Foerster have appointed Melody He-Chen as a partner in the firm’s Hong Kong office. He-Chen joins from Herbert Smith. She is experienced in advising investment banks and corporations on capital markets and corporate matters in Asia and the United States. Her practice includes securities offerings, private equity investments, M&As, cross-border joint ventures and financings. He-Chen has worked on numerous equity capital markets transactions involving Chinese corporates and other companies, including global offerings and listings on the HKSE, SEC registered IPOs, secondary offerings, rights issues and share placings.
