Tim Lester has commenced with Allens Arthur Robinson‘s Perth office. Lester joins from Lovells, where he was a global partner since 2001 and Managing Partner of its Tokyo office since 2004. His practice focuses on the corporate and finance areas, including mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity capital markets, structured finance and corporate finance. Lester joined Parker & Parker in Perth in 1992 before accepting a position with Lovells in 1995, working initially in their Hong Kong office before transferring to the Tokyo office, then to the London office and back to the Tokyo office following his election to the global partnership in 2001.Since 2006, Lester has led teams that completed deals with a transaction value exceeding A$55 billion.

Singapore law firm Alban Tay Mahtani & de Silva LLP (ATMD) has announced the appointment of Anand Nalachandran as partner to the Dispute Resolution Practice Group. Nalachandran has over 7 years of experience in general litigation and has advised corporate and individual clients on a wide range of legal matters including commercial contracts, employment matters, personal insolvency and tenancy disputes. He has also developed a specialist criminal practice encompassing a broad spectrum of legislative provisions and regulations ranging from the Penal Code to the Securities & Futures Act. Nalachandran joins the firm from Harry Elias Partnership.

Peter Chow has joined Bryan Cave LLP as a partner in the firm’s Hong Kong office and a member of the firm’s international transactional and arbitration practice groups. Chow’s practice focuses on international arbitrations and complex construction disputes, particularly those involving infrastructure, energy/resources and building projects in the Asia Pacific region. He previously led the China construction practice in a major U.S. firm. Chow received his LLB with honors in 1989 from the National University of Singapore. Chow joins Bryan Cave from Baker & McKenzie, where he was Special Counsel.

Mara Folz has rejoined Shearman & Sterling LLP’s Singapore office as a senior associate. Folz has over eight years experience in a broad range of capital markets and corporate transactional matters across Asia, including two years spent in the firm’s Singapore office from 2000 through 2002. She joins from a leading international firm in Vietnam where she represented both issuers and underwriters in a wide range of award-winning capital markets and private equity transactions, advised on acquisitions of leading Vietnamese companies and worked on several of the country’s biggest infrastructure projects.
