Clyde & Co has appointed Ian Roberts as a partner in the firm’s Singapore office. He has been appointed to lead the non-marine insurance practice in South East Asia. Roberts is an experienced insurance coverage and liability defence lawyer with a focus on property, construction and engineering claims, FI and D&O risks, general liability, and political risk/trade credit matters. He has advised a wide range of assureds, including construction professionals, trustees, financial institutions, directors and officers, solicitors and accountants. He also regularly advises on the drafting of policy.. Prior to joining the firm, Roberts was a partner in the insurance and reinsurance department of Mayer Brown in London.

Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe has appointed David E Case as a partner in its intellectual property group based in the firm’s Tokyo office. A leading intellectual property litigator in Tokyo, Case was formerly the head of White & Case’s Japan and Northern Asia IP and commercial litigation practices. He advises Japanese clients in litigation and arbitration involving IP rights, and plays an active role in matters involving the US courts. He has also previously handled notable depositions and other discovery matters in Japan. Case currently serves as chair of the Intellectual Property Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ACCJ). He is a past member of ACCJ’s Board of Governors and was formerly the co-chair of the ACCJ’s Privacy Law Task Force. He also serves on the editorial committee of the Japanese and English journals published by the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property of Japan. A permanent resident of Japan, he is fluent in spoken and written Japanese.

Sidley Austin has appointed Han Ming Ho as a partner in the firm’s Singapore office as co-head of the Asia investment funds practice. Ho will be the first Singapore law-qualified lawyer to join Sidley since the firm was awarded a Qualifying Foreign Law Practice (QFLP) license enabling it to provide local law advice in Singapore. He has extensive experience counseling clients on the structuring and formation of a broad range of investment funds, including hedge funds, private equity funds, real estate funds, exchange traded funds and other structured financial products. He has advised leading fund sponsors and managers, investment banks, financial institutions, venture capitalists and institutional investors.
