Herbert Smith has appointed Nick-Anthony Buford as a senior US securities and capital markets associate in its Singapore office. Buford is the first US securities lawyer to join the Singapore office, and his hire represents the launch of Herbert Smith’s Singapore-based US securities practice focused on Southeast Asia and India.

Construction specialist Irene Wales has joined Clayton Utz as a Special Counsel. Wales has over 20 years’ experience in both contentious and non-contentious construction work. She has extensive Asian experience, having advised on building and infrastructure projects in Australia, Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Bangkok and Philippines. Wales also spent nine years with UK law firm Pinsent Masons in Hong Kong.
