DLA Piper has appointed leading projects and project finance lawyer, John MacKay as partner in Singapore. MacKay is a seasoned projects and transactional lawyer with a decade of experience advising on the development and financing of major power, oil and gas and other infrastructure projects in Asia, the Middle East and Africa. He has significant experience advising on transactions in Thailand, Laos, Singapore, Indonesia, India, China, Korea and Japan and has handled oil and gas securitisation matters in Egypt and Nigeria. McKay has also spent a year based in India on secondment with a leading UK based global energy company assisting with the development of a major LNG project. He joins DLA Piper’s Energy & Infrastructure Group where he will continue working with clients on cross border transactions involving projects and project-related finance, corporate and commercial matters. His areas of particular specialisation include project development, project financing, restructuring and securitisations.

Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe has appointed Robert Pé, formerly head of Paul Hastings’ Hong Kong litigation practice, as a partner. Recognised by several leading Asian legal publications as one of the region’s top litigators, Pé will play an important role in growing Orrick’s litigation practice throughout Asia. He has handled a variety of contentious matters with a focus on high-end, complex commercial disputes and has diverse experience encompassing cross-border litigation, Hong Kong litigation, international arbitration, product liability and receiverships. Pé also has significant anti-counterfeiting experience and will work closely with Dr Xiang Wang, a recent intellectual property lateral partner in the firm’s Beijing office.
