DLA Piper has added Andrew Payne as a partner in the restructuring and special situations practice in Hong Kong. Payne is a highly regarded corporate and finance lawyer with more than 10 years of experience gained in London and Hong Kong. His focus is on special situations, bond and bank debt restructurings and private equity M&A. He has advised rescue financiers, noteholders, insolvency office holders, corporates and PE/hedge/special situation funds on a variety of transactions across different asset classes in the region. In the PE arena, Payne has advised on leveraged buy-outs, portfolio/auction transactions, fund formation and co-investments for institutional investors. In particular, he has significant experience in secondary transactions involving the acquisition or disposal of LP interests owned in fund asset managers. He has conducted matters in Hong Kong, Singapore, China, Australia, Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Taiwan and India. Payne started his legal career in London. He relocated to Hong Kong in 2011 with an international law firm. Prior to joining the firm, he was on secondment as legal counsel from an international law firm to Clearwater Capital Partners in Hong Kong.
