Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has appointed Neil Iksung Chang as counsel in the firm’s Hong Kong office and head of its Korea practice. An experienced international corporate lawyer and former McKinsey consultant, Chang advises global businesses and private equity firms on complex M&A transactions, strategic and financial investments, joint ventures and other collaboration agreements, as well as on general corporate and governance matters. In addition, he has substantial capital markets experience and has helped companies list on the NASDAQ and Hong Kong Stock Exchange. He joins the firm from Debevoise & Plimpton’s Hong Kong office where he served as international counsel and head of Korea Practice. Prior to that, he was a management consultant at McKinsey & Co in Seoul and a foreign lawyer at the Korean law firm of Bae, Kim & Lee.

Siam Premier has appointed Daniel Greif and Edward Kelly as co-heads of the firm’s intellectual property practice. Greif previously served The Coca Cola Company for almost 17 years as international trademark counsel. From 2004 until 2010, he was responsible for Coca Cola’s contentious and non contentious trademark and other intellectual property matters throughout the Asia Pacific region. Prior to his time with Coca Cola, Greif was senior trademark counsel at Sony Corporation in Tokyo, Japan and an attorney with Finnegan Henderson in Washington, DC. Kelly has been active in Southeast Asia for more than a decade and has been identified as one of Asia’s leading business lawyers in IP and life sciences. He has organised and managed a number of Thailand’s most high profile litigations, criminal raids, and prosecutions against notorious criminals engaged in trafficking of counterfeit goods. Kelly also leads the fight against human trafficking through his foundation SISHA at www.sisha.org.

VCI Legal has appointed Craig Thomas as a senior counsel-director. He has lived and worked in Vietnam continuously since 1995 and most recently served as in-house counsel for DWP, an international architecture and design company with offices in Vietnam. Thomas has worked for three international law firms in Vietnam, including Siméon & Associés in Hanoi and Coudert Brothers and Philips Fox in Ho Chi Minh City. His past practice has focused on foreign investment and licensing, M&A’s, labor, and intellectual property issues, among others. Among the clients Craig has serviced have been Philip Morris, BP and Colgate Palmolive.
