ATMD Bird & Bird has appointed Lorraine Anne Tay as a partner in its intellectual property and technology group. She joins the firm from a well-established international firm where she headed the trade mark registration practice. Tay has more than 15 years of experience in intellectual property (IP) with a focus on non-contentious and general IP advisory work. She has developed a particular expertise in dealing with multi-jurisdictional portfolios and complex cross-border IP issues and disputes, including oppositions and negotiations. Lorraine also manages commercial transactions involving IP issues and has experience in managing global due diligence.

Blake Dawson has added further strength and depth to its M&A team with the appointments of Garry Besson and Gary Lawler as partners in its corporate practice in Sydney. The two partners, who join the firm from Gilbert + Tobin, have been consistently recognised as leaders in Australia’s M&A sector, with both winning peer recognition awards in 2011.

Mallesons Stephen Jaques has appointed Sally Audeyev as a partner in the firm’s M&A practice in Perth. She joins from Blake Dawson and practices in the area of environmental law and land access. In addition, the firm has also appointed international arbitration practitioner Alex Baykitch as a partner in its Sydney office to commence in the second quarter of 2012. He joins from Holman Fenwick Willan.
