Norton Rose Australia has bolstered its cross-border capabilities with the appointment of Peter Borg as a partner in its Construction and Engineering practice in Brisbane. Borg, who began his career at BHP Billiton where he worked for seven years, now joins the firm from Pinsent Masons in Hong Kong, where he was a partner in that firm’s Projects & International Construction division. Earlier in his career, he has also practised with Freehills, Mallesons and Mayer Brown JSM. Borg has extensive construction and contract administration experience, and his major clients include Acciona, Downer, Maeda-Hitachi-Yogogawa-Hsin Cong, China State (China’s largest construction company), Leighton Asia, Wind Prospect, Cathay Pacific and Transfield Obayashi.

Norton Rose (Middle East) LLP has also strengthened its dispute resolution practice with the addition of Gulfam Hussain as a senior associate in Bahrain, effective September 2010. Hussain joins the firm from the world’s largest Islamic bank, Kuwait Finance House in Bahrain, where he was engaged as senior legal counsel. Qualified as an English solicitor, he specialises in banking and finance disputes and has a broad range of dispute resolution experience in Bahrain and across the Gulf Cooperation Council states.
