On September 6, 2016, the In-House Community hosted its 17th annual In-House Congress Singapore at the Marina Mandarin. Over 180 counsel and corporate decision makers attended and were welcomed by In-House Community Director Tim Gilkison. Following an ‘Overview of Developments on Philippine Economic and Regulatory Issues’ from Emerico De Guzman, senior partner with Angara Abello Concepcion Regala & Cruz Law Offices, a panel discussion, moderated by In-House Community co-director Patrick Dransfield, considered the biggest challenges facing in-house counsel in Singapore and attempted to uncover ‘the relationship between Quality, Cost and Value, and their continuingly changing relationship with External Counsel’. To discuss, Dransfield was joined by Lam Chee Kin, managing director and head of group legal, compliance & secretariat, DBS Bank; Stelios Moussis, general counsel, Lazada Malaysia; Shantini Sanmuganathan, group general counsel, Singapore Telecommunications; Alex Wiseman, partner, Taylor Root; Chew Seng Kok, managing director, ZICO Holdings; and Roger Parker, managing partner, Europe, Middle East and Asia, Reed Smith. With plenty of opportunities for networking and catching up with fellow community members, subsequent workshops covered a variety of areas including data security, counterparty risk and insolvency, global anti-corruption enforcement, intelligent due diligence, ASEAN investment, and crisis management.
We would like to thank all our co-hosts and sponsors: Angara Abello Concepcion Regala & Cruz Law Offices (ACCRALAW); Axiom; Clyde & Co; Debevoise & Plimpton; Major, Lindsey & Africa; Mintz Group; Rajah & Tann Singapore; Reed Smith; Singapore Mediation Centre; Taylor Root; and ZICO Law, for helping shape such a successful event.
“Thank you for another interesting In-House Community Congress. See you next year!”
