David Boitout, partner and co-head of Gide Loyrette Nouel’s Shanghai office, has been selected as one of the first foreign arbitrators of the new Shanghai Court of Financial Arbitration (SCFA) of the Shanghai Arbitration Commission.
Founded in 1995, the Shanghai Arbitration Commission handles disputes related to international trade, finance and engineering, as well as internal economic disputes of Chinese and foreign firms, in line with internationally accepted practice. On December 18, 2007, the SCFA was inaugurated as part of efforts to ensure Shanghai’s legal system keeps pace with the city’s rapid development as an international finance hub. The court will provide a base for a team of financial and legal experts from China and overseas involved in the arbitration of financial disputes locally and internationally. |
